It’s time for another round of Craft Lightning – awesome crafts that take 15 minutes or less to create – and this edition showcases quick Valentine’s Day crafts. The kids were begging me to let them make something, so I came up with a project that our whole family could create – conversation heart art!
We started by painting trees on to thin canvas panels (I love these for kids artwork!) and bristol paper since we ran short on canvases. Allow to dry completely.
Glue conversation hearts to your tree – take care not to use too much glue or the candy may start to melt/dissolve into the glue if it takes too long to dry.
For small hands, I highly recommend Elmer’s Early Learners Washable Glue Pens. We have tried practically every glue product on the market, and this one is the very best for kids – hands down. I don’t know how Elmer’s did it, but they managed to create a pen that delivers just enough glue without making a mess, AND the glue is strong enough to hold heavy items like these conversation hearts on the paper. It goes on purple so that the kids can see where’s they’ve put it, but it dries clear. Seriously, it’s awesome stuff (they didn’t pay me to say that either…we just really love it!).
For my tree, I glued the conversation hearts to look like leaves, but my 3-year-old thought it was fun to glue his hearts to the tree trunk and branches – to each his own!
They look pretty cute hanging out with our conversation heart frames and heart card garland!
