These sweet Valentine’s Day felt wall banners are super cute, and SO easy and inexpensive to make! A great addition to your Valentines decor!
What You’ll Need:
- 9″x 12″Craft Felt – I used 2 sheets of white, 1 red, 1 glittery red, 1 dark pink, and 1 light pink.
- Paper Straws – one per banner
- Felt Glue
- Pom Pom Trim, Gingham Ruffle Ribbon, & Adhesive Lace Tape
- Embroidery Floss for hanging
- Sizzix Big Shot with 4-up Heart and All Star alphabet dies (optional)
I started by cutting each of the felt sheets in half, and then set aside two white pieces and a red piece for the backgrounds of my felt wall banners. I used the Sizzix Big Shot and dies to cut hearts and letters from the remaining sheets of felt.
I created a pocket to hang the banners by folding the top 1-2″ of felt over and securing with felt glue. I inserted a paper straw into the pocket, and strung embroidery floss through the straw for hanging. Super easy peasy!
I attached all of the trims and embellishments with felt glue as well.
I had hoped to add embroidered details to the felt hearts, but the felt glue dried harder than I was expecting, and it was tough to get my needle through. Oops! Lesson learned. Be mindful of your glue placement if you want to get a needle through it later!
All-in-all, it took me about an hour to make all three banners (40 minutes of which were spent deciding which embellishments to piece together!), and the cost was less than $1 per banner. Easy peasy AND inexpensive (win-win!)!
I cleared the winter break clutter from the top of my secretary desk, and hung the felt wall banners and my heart cards banner over it. Even the succulent got a cute little glittery heart for Valentine’s Day, too. I sat there and enjoyed the look of the mess-free desktop for about three minutes until I realized that I actually had to put back all of our homeschool necessities…
…a little more cluttered, but just as cute! I love the way that these Valentine’s Day felt banners turned out, and they really couldn’t be any quicker or easier to make!
