This electric blue butterfly cocktail is a refreshing blend of lemonade, vodka, blue curacao and 7-Up – YUM!
I have always been a big fan of Alice in Wonderland, and when I was younger, I actually acted on stage in a run of Alice’s Adventures Through the Looking Glass (I played one of the Jabberwock’s “Jabber-Babes” haha!). I can’t wait to take my big boys to see the new Alice Through the Looking Glass movie that’s coming out tomorrow, and they’re DYING to see it, too! This electric blue butterfly cocktail and mocktail recipe was inspired by one of my favorite characters from the Alice stories, the blue caterpillar (turned butterfly!).
This refreshing cocktail is so simple to make that it’s sure to become one of your summertime favorites! Simply mix together vodka, blue curacao, lemonade, and 7-Up. Easy peasy! I also rimmed the glasses with blue sugar, just because it looks fun!
To garnish my drinks with something pretty, I used my Silhouette CAMEO to cut these butterflies out of cardstock, and then simply hot glued them on to striped paper straws. Totally adorable, and they only took about five minutes to make. I may need to use this idea again at my next garden party!
What You’ll Need:
- 1 1/2 oz. Vodka, preferably lemon or citrus
- 1 oz. Blue Curacao
- 3 oz. Lemonade
- 7-Up to fill glass
- Ice
Instructions:
- Fill a highball glass half full of ice.
- Add 1 1/2 oz. vodka, 1 oz. blue curacao, 3 oz. lemonade, and enough 7-Up to fill the glass.
- Stir gently to mix, and serve immediately.
This drink is also delicious as a non-alcoholic mocktail! Mix 3 oz. of lemonade with 5 oz. of 7-up over ice, and add a dash of blue fruit punch (or neon blue food coloring). Yum!
A few of my friends love Alice just as much as I do, and they came up with some pretty amazing Through the Looking Glass inspired foods and projects as well – check ’em out!Â
