Now, just give your mixture a light stir.
Prepare your empty shot cups by lining them together onto a baking sheet or flat surface that you can easily move.
Using an injector or pourable measuring cup, fill each shot cup about ¾ of the way full. Do not fill all the way to the top.
Place the prepared shots in the fridge to chill for 2 hours or until Jello is set.
Finish off by topping your Jello shots with a dollop of whipped cream, maraschino cherry or lime wedges, if desired. Enjoy!
Tip: To make these as virgin Jello shots, just replace the vodka with more lemon-lime soda or cold water. Both will work well and result in a delicious, refreshing Summer treat!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Make These Ahead of Time?
You can make these Dirty Shirley Jello Shots up to 1-2 days in advance for maximum enjoyment. They can last in the fridge for up to two weeks, though – just store them safely in the fridge until you are ready to serve!
Can I Use a Different Flavor of Jello?
Any flavor of Jello you’d like will work great for this recipe if you don’t want to use the cherry flavor! Just keep in mind that the color of the Jello will change the overall look of your Dirty Shirley Jello Shots. But if you are looking for something fun and different, go for it!
Can I Add Garnish to the Jello Shots for Extra Flavor?
You can absolutely add garnish to your Jello shots! But, if you are not going to serve these right away, we suggest not adding any garnishes until you’re ready to serve them. Just before serving, add the desired toppings(like maraschino cherries) to each Jello shot. Then, put the lids back on them and leave them on until you are ready to enjoy. Easy peasy!
Can I Add More Liquor to These Jello Shots?
For best results, you should put 1/2 cup of liquor into your Jello Shots. But, you are able to add as much as 2/3 cup without changing the texture of the Jello Shots. If you add too much alcohol to your Jello shots, it may cause the Jello Shots to not set properly.
