What You’ll Need:
For this project I used DecoArt Americana paint in the following colors: Peony Pink, Sunny Day, Yellow Green, Bluegrass Green, Bahama Blue, and Vivid Violet.
I started by painting the eggshells with acrylic paint. Most of the colors only required one coat of paint for solid coverage, but the yellow and green each needed three coats. My ceramic egg holder base was looking a bit dingy and dirty, so I gave it a coat of gloss white spray paint, and it looked a million times nicer.
I allow the eggshell planters to dry completely and then coated them with a clear satin finish.
Next, I partially filled the eggshell with potting soil and added the succulents.
I continued to add plants until all of the eggs were filled, and then I spent a while playing around with the arrangement until it looked exactly the way I wanted it to.
These are pretty much my favorite spring project EVER. So quick and easy, and I adore the bright splash of color that they bring to my decor!
I debated adding some additional embellishments with temporary foil tattoos, but in the end, I decided that I liked the clean and simple colored eggs. I may revisit the idea of foil tattoo eggs in another project though!
You can make these eggshell succulent planters in any color palette to match your decor – I’m seriously crushing on these bright pastel shades!
