These glass and vinyl Christmas ornaments are SO quick and easy to make, and they are a great homemade gift idea for friends, family, teachers, and more!
I love creating homemade holiday ornaments for our Christmas tree, and these DIY glass and vinyl ornaments are super quick and easy to make! Once you know how to make them, the design possibilities are endless!
Supplies for Glass & Vinyl Christmas Ornaments:
- Christmas Colored Vinyl Pack from Expressions Vinyl
- Flat Glass Ornaments
- Clear Transfer Tape
- Silhouette Cameo Cutting Machine
I love that Expressions Vinyl offers color-coordinated holiday themed packs like this Christmas pack that contains vinyl in 14K Gold, Clover, Evergreen, Red Hot, Silver, and Warm Brick. It makes it super easy to pick up vinyl for all of your holiday crafting needs all at once!
(Note: You could also use a Cricut Explore cutting machine to create these ornaments, but one of the files that I use here is specific to Silhouette machines.)
I started with these flat glass ornaments that I picked up in a bulk pack – perfect for creating gifts for friends, family, teachers, and more. Each ornament only costs around $2.50 to make, so they’re cute AND inexpensive!
I downloaded the “Joy of Christmas” file from the Silhouette Design Store, and purchased the “Merry and Bright” cut file from Etsy. I used the modify toolbar in the Silhouette software to detach and delete the snowflakes from the “Merry and Bright” design because I just wanted to use the text.
I cut the vinyl using my Silhouette Cameo and weeded away the excess.
Because the ornaments are clear, you can place them directly over the vinyl design to get an idea of how/where you want it laid out before you transfer your design.
Use the clear transfer tape to transfer the designs to the ornaments.
Easy peasy and super cute! There are SO many fun options for different colors and designs that you can use to customize these easy vinyl ornaments!
I really like the simplicity of the gold string, but you could also swap out the string for a pretty holiday ribbon if you want to further customize the design.
Expressions Vinyl is hosting a contest and an awesome giveaway over on their blog that you don’t want to miss! Hop on over and vote for your favorite vinyl ornament *coughNUMBERSIXcough*!
If you like this idea, don’t forget to pin it!
